As an update to the discolored water along West Main Street, adjoining side streets and the Black Point/Crescent Beach area, improvement has been seen but some areas may continue to have discolored water throughout the day. The Water Department is evaluating those areas where the problem may persist and will flush hydrants in those areas tomorrow, July 9, 2015. Again, thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this issue.

UPDATED JULY 7, 2015 3:57 p.m.: As an update to the notice issued this morning regarding the discolored water along West Main Street, adjoining side streets and the Black Point/Crescent Beach area, it is expected that this will continue throughout the rest of today and possibly into tomorrow. The water should NOT be run continually in an attempt to clear the service line but only periodically to check for improvement. Again, thank you for your understanding as we work through this issue.

ATTENTION WATER CUSTOMERS: Following a water main break Monday evening, customers primarily along West Main Street, adjoining side streets and in Black Point may continue to experience discolored water throughout the day due to the disturbance that it caused in the distribution system. The discolored water is not a health threat. However, the discolored water can stain clothing, so it is best to wait for the water to clear before doing any laundry. Also, do not use any hot water as you may draw the discolored water into your hot water tank, which may have to be flushed later. If you were doing laundry when the water became discolored, rewash the laundry later when the water is clear. Use a rust stain remover or regular detergent. Do not use chlorine bleach. Chlorine can react with iron and can form a permanent stain. Please feel free to contact the Water Department at 860- 691-4104. Thank you for your understanding as we work through this issue.
