Recreation Program

Correction Notice: The trifold flyer that was sent out with the Annual Meeting notice includes incorrect information about the 2019 club program.  The sections beginning with “Week 1 to Week 3” and “Week 9 to Week 11” do not apply to the BPBC Recreation program.  In addition, there is  error in drop off time.  The correct drop off time is 9:30 am.  Any clarification can be requested from or from the Parks & Rec Co-Directors  at We apologize for the confusion. The BPBC Club Program is looking for volunteers to offer evening/afternoon introductory work shops for children registered in the program.  Volunteers would be supported by staff to facilitate workshops.  Please let us know if you would be interested.  If you are available to volunteer your time, please contact Nadia and Erica at We are seeking volunteer instructors for:

Mission Statement

The goal of the Recreation Program is to afford Black Point Beach Club members and their guests the opportunity to take advantage of a reasonably priced summer recreation program providing outdoor and indoor activities for children ages three through twelve.  The Recreation Program provides the children of this Association the opportunity of forming friendships and learning basic water safety skills in a safe and caring environment.

Club Session

Black Point offers a 7 week Summer Recreation Program that provides fun activities and swimming lessons for kids ages 3-12.  “Club” runs from 9:30AM – 11:30AM, Monday – Thursday at the clubhouse plus 3 Friday special events.  Swimming lessons are from 12:30PM-1PM and 1PM-1:30PM, Monday – Thursday, at Main Beach.

*Please note the hours of operation have been corrected; previously the end time was listed as 11:00AM, when it is in fact 11:30AM. Thank you for your understanding.

Drop Off

The doors open at 9:30 sharp.  Children seven and older report directly to their counselors and group.  Children three to six years old must be personally delivered to and picked up from the counselor for safety.  Children seven and older are dismissed at 11:30 sharp.  The intersection directly in front of the Club House is blocked to traffic for the safety of children on bikes.  Please use Ridge Trail as an alternate route at dismissal.   <

Swimming Lessons

Swim Lessons are half hour each day.  Please be prompt for swim lessons.  Late arrival can disrupt the class.  Children three to six years old must be personally delivered to and picked up from the instructor for safety.


Nadia Banever – Co-Director

Nadia is a lifelong Black Pointer.  She graduated from Sacred Heart University and has worked in the East Lyme school system for the past three years.  She has a strong interest in physical fitness and team sports.  She played AAU basketball and soccer in High School.  She plans to share her interest in multicultural experiences throughout the summer.  Nadia is looking forward to renewing old relationships and welcoming newcomers to the program.

Erica Garnett – Co-Director

Erica Garnett has been spending her summers at Black Point Beach Club for her entire life! She attended the club program from ages 3 to 12, was a volunteer and counselor, and has always dreamed of being able to be a director of the program! Erica has received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and received her Masters Degree in Education and Education Specialist Degree in School Counseling, also from UMass. Erica plans to be a school counselor at a public elementary school to pursue her passion for helping young people to have the emotional, social, and academic skills they need to be successful. In her free time, Erica enjoys running, writing, and going blue point crabbing! She is so excited to be the new co-director for summer 2019!

Sara Monarca – WSI

Sara Monarca is a senior at Northwest Catholic.  She has been an integral part of the Club program for four years.  This year she will be overseeing lessons with the Co-Directors assisting.  She also hold two evening waterfront activities for Club goers and their families.
