Who was the real Uncle Sam, the real General T”sao, or the original Peeping Tom? Who was Anna Schicklgruber and what is her great historical significance? How did Connecticut and Martha’s Vineyard get their names? What are the origins of words and phrases like “thinking outside the box”, honeymoon, gossip, chairman, “mind your Ps and Qs”, Ivy League, and fake news (hint on this last one: its not who you think)? How about food names like fetuchini alfredo, eggs benedict, caesar salad, or drink names like martini, daiquiri,and whiskey? Answers to these and to the origins many other names. words, phrases, plus a few other tidbits, like why mens’s shirts have their buttons on the left while women’s blouses have their buttons on the right, will be revealed on the evening of (insert date). All are invited to come and enjoy what should be an entertaining and fun evening.
