Marie E. Garrow Obituary

Marie Ella Garrow, 92, of Vernon passed away on April 21st peacefully at home with her cherished husband by her side. She was the beloved wife of 59 years to Bernard Garrow and a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was born in Rockville on February 12th, 1934, a daughter of Edward and Louise Schneider.

She was predeceased by her beloved parents, sisters, and brothers. She leaves behind her husband, Bernard Garrow of Vernon, son Edward (Cindy) Garrow of Somers, daughter Arlene Garrow of Niantic, and son John (Rhonda) Garrow of Ellington. Six grandchildren, Logan (Hannah), Brian, Colin (Cami), Thomas, Jenna, and Jaela, as well as one great granddaughter Madelyn.

She grew up on the family farm before working at Duo-Set Processing as the shipping & receiving manager, where she met her future husband. As she started raising her family, she transitioned to a school bus driver for the town of Vernon for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter and family at the beach and being in the water and sunshine. There are many memories of trips to Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod, where she opened her heart to any and all. Sunday night dinners were special times with her family, laughing and playing games.

From a young age, her faith was the foundation of her life. At an early age, she gave her life to the Lord. She was a longtime member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Ellington, where her quiet strength, kindness, and steadfast belief touched many.

Her greatest joy and purpose was always found in her family. As a mother, she guided with wisdom and compassion. As a grandmother and great-grandmother, she poured out endless love, creating memories that will be remembered forever. She held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, loving each of them deeply and unconditionally.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Longview Fellowship Center, 34 Middle Butcher Rd., Ellington, CT, 06029, on Thursday, April 23, 2026. Her funeral will take place at the Apostolic Christian Church, 34 Middle Butcher Road, Ellington on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 10:15 AM. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Marie’s memory may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church of Ellington, 34 Middle Butcher Rd., Ellington, CT 06029.
