Mary Cahill 1923-2024
Mary Cahill, 101, of Black Point Beach, Niantic, passed away Dec. 1, 2024. She leaves her son Walter and wife Mary of Waterford; her grandson Christopher and wife Amy of Fairfield, her granddaughter Kristel and husband Sam; and great-granddaughter Hannah of Boston; and her nephew Anthony of Plainville; and niece Annette of Michigan. She also leaves her extended family, the members of Black Point Beach to whom she dedicated her heart and soul.
She served her beach for over 70 years in various capacities: as chairman, chairman of the Board of Governors, Black Point Beach Association manager for 35 years, zoning officer, and tax collector. She also served on the Water and Sewer Commission of East Lyme for 30 years. Upon her retirement, she was honored by Black Point, the Town of East Lyme and the State of Connecticut. They even named a street The Cahill Way. Always vocal when she believed she was right, she fought for the betterment of the beaches and the town.
