Attention Black Pointers, as of 5/19/25, the following individuals have declared their candidacy for the upcoming Board of Governors vacancies:
David R. Weiss 1 Blue Heron Court, BOG Statement-
- My wife Sherrie and I have been spending summers here from 1986 thru 2003. In 2003, we built our 1st home at 98 East Shore Drive and we became year round residents. In the early 2000’s, I served on the board of Governors of Black Point Beach Club for two consecutive three year terms. In 2018, we purchased 1 Blue Heron Court and built our current home.
- I recently retired from Sealed Air Corporation, the inventor of Bubble Wrap packaging. I spent 38 years in various roles from Sales, Sales Management, Product Marketing, Training and the Director of Bubble Wrap packaging for North America.
- Black Point Beach Club is one of the greatest beach communities and everyone in this association would agree with this statement. It is not a fantastic club by accident, it is great because of its people and those who have contributed their time over the years, to make sure that we invest in ourselves and the Beach Club. We have so many people offering their time and knowledge to help our Beach Club thrive. I want to give more of my time and experience to this community by serving on the Board of Governors, again, so that future generations can continue to feel that they are living in one of the greatest beach associations in our area.
- I would appreciate your vote, thank you.
Jim Mastria BOG Statement-
- I’m excited to share that I’m running for a spot on the Board of Governors. I care deeply about our community and want to help shape its future in a positive, inclusive way. I believe in open communication, fresh ideas, and working together to make smart, thoughtful decisions. I’d be honored to bring my perspective and energy to the board and represent our shared interests.
- Dear Members of the Nominating Committee, I’m writing to express my interest in serving on the Board of Governors for Black Point Beach Club—a place that has held deep meaning for me and my family for over six decades. My connection to Black Point began in the 1960s, spending summers with my aunt and uncle on Indianola. In 1993, my wife and I bought our home on White Cap, and in 2010, we made the decision to become full-time residents on Bellaire Road. Black Point has always felt like home. I’ve been proud to give back through the Wrecking Crew, cooking dinners for the Men’s Club, and helping with community holiday events. I care deeply about maintaining the spirit, beauty, and neighborly connection that make this place so special. I would be honored to serve and help shape the future of our community as a member of the Board of Governors. Sincerely, Jim Mastria
Dominick J Reis BOG Statement-
- My wife, Geralyn, and I bought our home at 21 Sea View Avenue in 2013 and moved here full-time in 2021. Living in Black Point has always felt like a vacation, even before I retired. This community and its amenities, most importantly the beaches, are part of the reason. We are fortunate to live here, and I don’t take that for granted. I want to see Black Point continue to thrive and that’s why I’m running for the Board of Governors.
- I have 40 years’ experience as a senior finance executive at Fortune 1000 companies, including Disney (ESPN) and ANN INC., with roots in Big Four public accounting. I also have prior Board experience: in my most recent role as Chief Accounting OƯicer at ANN INC., where I regularly presented at Board and Committee meetings; and as a former member of the Bethany, CT Board of Education, where I served on several committees, including Chair of the Finance Committee. Besides this work, I enjoy the gym, biking, pickleball, landscaping, and spending time with friends and family.
- Black Point is a place where shoreline memories are made. If elected to the Board of Governors, I am committed to putting in the time to keep that tradition going.
Garrett Hickey BOG Statement-
- My name is Garrett Hickey, and I’m honored to put my name forward as a candidate for the Black Point Beach Club Board of Governors. As a full-time high school teacher and varsity coach, I bring over a decade of experience in leadership, communication, and community-building—skills that align closely with the responsibilities of a board member.
- I’ve been coming to Black Point for 34 years and recently became a full-time member of the community with my wife and 3 year old son. My connection to this place runs deep—I grew up through the Black Point Club program, starting as a club goer at age 3 and working my way up through every role: volunteer, junior counselor, senior counselor, assistant director, and eventually club director, a role I held until age 28. Black Point has shaped so much of who I am, and to say it’s been a defining part of my life would be an understatement. That’s why I believe so strongly that members of my generation need to start stepping up, getting involved, and having a voice. If we want to see the traditions we grew up with continue—and evolve—we need to take an active role in shaping the future of this community we care so deeply about.
- In my professional life, I lead teams, manage responsibilities, and work collaboratively to solve problems—skills that translate directly to effective board service. As a teacher and coach, I’ve learned how to listen thoughtfully, navigate differing perspectives, build consensus, and lead with both structure and compassion. I also understand the importance of planning, accountability, and follow-through—all essential qualities for serving on a board and helping guide the future of a close-knit community like ours.
- I have a deep appreciation for what makes Black Point special: the traditions, the natural beauty, and the neighborly atmosphere that set it apart. I’m committed to helping preserve those qualities while also supporting forward-thinking improvements that benefit all members.
- If elected, I will bring a steady, solutions-oriented approach to the board. I’ll listen to concerns with an open mind, work collaboratively to resolve issues, and always act with the best interest of the community in mind.
- Thank you for your consideration—I’d be honored to serve. Sincerely, Garrett Hickey
Kelly Fecteau BOG Statement-
- I’d like to officially announce my interest in running for the BP BOG.
- My husband, Jeff and I bought our home in 2017 and moved here full time in 2020. We couldn’t be happier with this decision.
- After settling into our remodeled home, I got involved the Women’s Club to start a setback league for our fulltime residents during the fall/winter months. This past season we had 2 tournaments.
- I’ve worked as an administrative assistant and finally ending my career with The Hartford as an executive assistant to an EVP of one of their investment divisions. I then worked, from home, as an independent sales executive for a promotional products company, while raising our 2 daughters. I was extremely active in our community. Serving on the board of the Make A Mark Region 10 Enrichment Fund for 5 years.
- I was a member of the LSM Crew Booster Club where I served as president or 4 years. I was a member of our local Lions Club for many years, serving at VP for 3. I have extensive conference planning and event planning experience.
- I’m passionate about community and coming together. Doing what’s right for the greater good. I’m very excited to have the opportunity to help our community continue to grow and maintain our little slice or heaven. I appreciate your consideration.
Colleen Chapin BOG Statement-
- Since being elected by our membership in 2022, it has been an honor to serve on the Board of Governors and to give back to this community. Over the past few years, I’ve worked to help shape our Community Master Plan—a forward-looking blueprint designed to preserve what we cherish most about Black Point while preparing us for the future.
- Looking ahead, I believe it’s vital to maintain this momentum. That means identifying opportunities to refine the plan, taking thoughtful action on its priorities, and ensuring we stay on course through respectful leadership, clear communication, and collaborative decision-making.
- If elected to a second term, I’ll remain focused on implementing and evolving the Master Plan, while also advocating for thoughtful investment in our infrastructure and the long-term financial health of our community.
- Professionally, my background spans information technology, property management, and historic preservation. These career roles have allowed me to work with diverse communities, manage multimillion-dollar capital and operational budgets, navigate complex regulatory environments, and partner with nonprofits on strategic planning initiatives. I’ve drawn heavily on that experience during my time on the Board.
- Black Point has been a part of my family for nearly a century, and I’ve been fortunate to experience summers here just like many of you. In recent years, I’ve had the privilege of extending my stays and deepening my connection to this place.
- Thank you for the opportunity to serve. I would be grateful for your support.
