Board of Governors Policy
for the Recreation Program
MISSION STATEMENT
The goal of the Recreation Program is to afford Black Point
Beach Club members and their guests the opportunity to take
advantage of a reasonably priced summer recreation program
providing outdoor and indoor activities for children ages
three through twelve. The Recreation Program provides the
children of this Association the opportunity of forming
friendships and learning basic water safety skills in a safe
and caring environment.
MANAGEMENT
1. The Black Point Beach Club Recreation Program will be run
by a director and an assistant director to be appointed by
the Association Manager.
2. Applications for the next season shall be given to
counselors at their performance evaluations. Applications
also shall be made available on the Black Point website. All
applications must be received by the recreation director by
January 10th.
3. According to state statutes counselors must be fourteen
years of age in order to earn wages. They must be fourteen
years old by the first day of the program. Volunteer
counselors in training (CIT) must be thirteen years of age
by the first day of the program.
4. The curriculum for the program shall be designed by the
recreation directors. The curriculum should reflect weekly
activities that are age appropriate for each group. The
curriculum and suggested Friday activities should be
presented to the Association Manager for review and
approval.
5. Counselors shall be responsible for the implementation of
the program that is designed by the directors.
6. All decisions regarding the hiring and promotion of
employees shall be made on the basis of performance and
potential. At the beginning of the season, each employee
will receive a job description and job objectives. Following
every Club season, each employee shall be evaluated
regarding all aspects of his/her performance by the
individual’s supervisors. The written evaluation shall be
discussed with the employee and signed by both persons.
Copies of all evaluations shall be placed in an employee
file and kept by the Association Manager.
OPERATING PROCEDURES
1. The program shall operate from 9:30 am to 11:30 am on
Monday through Thursday of each week. The hours for
directors and counselors will be from 9:00 am to 11:30 am
and then the designated hours for swimming lessons.
Counselors will be paid for all hours worked, including
extra activities. Fridays will have special activities
available to campers.
2. The program shall run for seven weeks. The Association
Manager shall establish the starting and closing date of the
program. Club will not be held on the 4th of July.
3. Children are not allowed into the Clubhouse before 9:25
am. After this time, children are to check in with their
counselor for attendance. Until a child has reported to
his/her counselor, the Recreation Program is not responsible
for the child.
4. Annual recreation budget shall be prepared and presented
to the board by the directors and Association Manager at the
beginning of the season.
5. The directors will provide the Association Manager with a
weekly tally sheet including the number of campers. This
number should reflect seasonal, weekly and daily categories.
The directors will provide a weekly accounting of expenses.
